Marking a new milestone for Indian talent, Tamil film actor and star Vijay Sethupathi will be one of the presenters at the 54th International Emmy Awards on November 23, scheduled to take place in New York on November 23, 2026, THR India has learnt.
The actor's participation marks a milestone for Indian talent on the global entertainment stage, as Sethupathi will be the first Indian to present an award at the prestigious ceremony. Sethupathi's appearance is also part of a larger effort to bring Indian talent to influential global platforms, and behind this development is Kavita Gupta, a board member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (which bestows the International Emmy Awards) and a producer.
Gupta, who played a pivotal role in bringing Vir Das to the International Emmy stage as host, making him the first Indian to host the awards in 2024, is known to champion Indian talent into the international conversations and networks that shape the entertainment industry.
The slate of her production banner, Cineroost Films, includes Chronicles of a Confession, directed by Prateek Vats, with Anurag Kashyap and Payal Kapadia as executive producers, and a feature starring and directed by Vir Das.
Sethupathi, who was last seen in Baththa, Balaji Tharaneetharan's critically acclaimed film about the moral redemption of a gangster, will next be seen in Mani Ratnam's Inji Vellam, alongside Sai Pallavi, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja's Pocket Novel, alongside Raj B Shetty and Malavika Mohanan.
Meanwhile, the actor recently confirmed that his breakout hit action drama Maharaja (2024) was headed to Hollywood for an American remake, also reiterating that a sequel was in development. The film's producer further confirmed that the interest came after the film's unexpected second life in China, where it grossed ₹91.65 crore theatrically, and performed strongly on streaming. A Hollywood agency subsequently acquired the remake rights.
