Earlier this month, THR India reported that the shoot of Pawan Kalyan and Sujeeth’s sequel to their film OG will start rolling later this year. They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan, released in September last year to immense box-office success and it was duly announced that the film would be developed into a franchise.
After confirmation of the sequel, a source close to the production reveals the second film will begin early production next month, with a promotional photo shoot featuring Pawan Kalyan, who is also the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. A look test for the reprisal of the Ojas Ghambeera character will also take place before this planned photo shoot next month.
The source also explained why the second film is being produced under Pawan Kalyan’s home banner PKCW or Pawan Kalyan Creative Works. The Power Star was reported to float a home production banner as early as 2001 and it was set to begin with a collaboration with a Mumbai-based company. Although the star denied these reports, the proposal for a home banner got delayed after he joined politics in 2007. It was the sequel to OG that “gave the star the creative rush” to begin working on a home banner, the source explained.
A press release stated that that, “Pawan Kalyan has recently started discussing the story with Sujeeth,” adding, “During the discussion, he (Kalyan) stated, ‘Whatever from my side, will be ready,’ reflecting his commitment to Sujeeth’s vision.” The actor also highlighted a sequence in the film, adding that it is “going to be an iconic visual”.
The note added that Sujeeth “touched upon elements including the “outsider” references surrounding the protagonist, the significance of the OG pet, and several character arcs that are designed to evolve as the universe expands.”
The first film traced the journey of the now-iconic Pawan Kalyan character named Ojas Ghambeera and was set predominantly in the underworld of Mumbai. Shot by Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahasma, the film went on to become the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2025.
Pawan Kalyan has also announced a new film, confirming a long-delayed collaboration with director Surrender Reddy. The project, backed by producer Ram Talluri under the banner Jaithra Rama Movies, marks Talluri’s debut as a producer.
