Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday was meant to mark a milestone in her career, but the event quickly became a flashpoint for the Israel-Gaza conflict and Pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters. As the Israeli actress unveiled her star on Hollywood Boulevard, demonstrators from opposing sides of the ongoing war clashed in a heated moment that required police intervention.

Video footage captured by TMZ showed an apparent pro-Palestine demonstrator running down the street after allegedly seizing an Israeli flag, pursued by two individuals. LAPD officers swiftly intervened, detaining multiple people, though no arrests were made. An LAPD public information officer told The Hollywood Reporter that there were no arrests and that the skirmish was a moment of “crowd control” by the officers at the event.

Gadot, who rose to international fame as Wonder Woman and is set to appear as the Evil Queen in the upcoming Snow White, has been a vocal advocate for Israel. Following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, she publicly called for the release of Israeli hostages, emphasising, "I am all about humanity...I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages.

After October 7th [2023], I don’t talk politics — because who cares about the celebrity talking about politics? I’m an artist. I want to entertain people. I want to bring hope and be a beacon of light whenever I say anything about the world,” Gadot told Variety. “But on October 7th, when people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent. I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up.

The actress, whose grandfather was a Holocaust survivor, has repeatedly described herself as an indigenous Israeli and spoken about her deep connection to her homeland. Before her acting career, she completed mandatory service in the Israel Defense Forces, a fact that has made her a polarising figure in international discourse.

Despite the protests, the Walk of Fame ceremony remained a celebration of her journey. Director Patty Jenkins and Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel were among those who honoured Gadot at the event.

With her star now cemented on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Gadot is far from slowing down. She continues to take on high-profile projects, including The Runner and In the Hand of Dante, and has expressed interest in acting in her native language, Hebrew.
