On Monday, the Madras High Court issued a directive restraining the use of Ilaiyaraaja songs in Ajith Kumar’s hit film Good Bad Ugly. The Maestro had objected to the use of three of his tracks in the 2025 film, which Adhik Ravichandran directed. These tracks are 'Otha Ruba Tharen' (Naattu Purapaatu, 1996), 'Ilamai Idho Idho' (Sakalakala Vallavan, 1982), and 'En Jodi Manja Kuruvi' (Vikram, 1986). The composer reportedly said that these songs were used without his consent or payment of royalties.

A report on Live Law stated that the Madras High Court judge had passed a temporary injunction after Ilaiyaraaja approached the court alleging copyright infringement. This order restrains the film’s makers from “exhibiting, screening, distributing, selling, publishing, or broadcasting Good Bad Ugly with the disputed songs on any platform, including OTT.”
