Govinda ‘Stable’ after Falling Unconscious, Undergoing Tests at Hospital

Bollywood star Govinda was hospitalised in Mumbai after collapsing at home on Tuesday night; the 61-year-old actor is now stable and under observation.

Bollywood legend Govinda was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday night after fainting at his home. According to reports, the 61-year-old actor complained of dizziness and headache before being rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Juhu around 11:30 p.m.

Govinda’s friend and legal aide Lalit Bindal told news agency PTI, “He fainted in the evening and he called me. I brought him to CritiCare Hospital. He is under observation and he is taking necessary tests.”

In another update, Bindal added, “Govinda is currently under observation. He is sleeping after taking medicines. Doctors are expected to review his condition around 12 noon, after which further decisions will be taken. His medical tests are still going on.”

As of Wednesday morning, sources said the actor was stable and undergoing tests, including a neurological evaluation. The doctors have not yet issued an official statement about his condition. Family members have reportedly been by his side since the incident.

A day earlier, Govinda had visited veteran actor Dharmendra at Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai. The 89-year-old star was discharged on Wednesday morning. He will continue his recovery at home, his family said in a statement, bringing relief to millions of fans. Govinda had worked with Dharmendra in films like Dadagiri (1987), Kaun Kare Kurbanie (1991), and Zulm Ki Hukumat (1992).

Govinda, one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars, is known for delivering hits like Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Raja Babu, Partner and others. In a career spanning four decades, he has appeared in more than 160 films, with an era-defining penchant for comedy and dancing.

Govinda recently appeared on an episode of the celebrity chat show, Two Much. He was joined by fellow 90s icon Chunkey Pandey, engaging in a light-hearted conversation with hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna.

In films, Govinda was last seen in the 2019 comedy Rangeela Raja.
