Directed by Sukesh DK, the historical epic will unfold across two parts.
Actor Daali Dhananjaya, who rose to national recognition with Pushpa: The Rise (2021), is stepping into the most ambitious project of his career with Halagali. Directed by Sukesh DK and produced by Kalyan Chakravarthy Dhoolipalla under the Duhara Movies banner, the historical epic will unfold across two parts. Releasing simultaneously in five languages—Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi—it is being positioned as the most expensive film of the actor’s career, a project designed to take his stardom to a pan-Indian scale.
To mark the teaser launch, Dhananjay shared on X: “From the dust of forgotten battles… rises the untold roar of Halagali. Witness the rebellion.” That message sets the tone for the film’s spirit of resistance and its retelling of the Bedar community’s guerrilla struggle against British colonial rule.
The first-look poster, bearing the striking tagline ‘Battle For The Weapons’, sets the stage by unveiling Dhananjaya in a fierce warrior avatar. The teaser expands on that vision, opening with sweeping shots of a land simmering on the brink of revolt before building to the actor’s introduction as the leader of his people, captured in a powerful moment where he hurls a spear at the British flag.
Halagali is being filmed across multiple continents and over half the production is already completed. “This story is close to my heart because it tells of our land, our people, and their courage. Playing a warrior who fought for freedom is both an honour and a responsibility,” Dhananjay said, speaking about the film.
With music by Vasuki Vaibhav and action choreography by National Award-winner Vikram Mor, the film promises both scale and intensity. Kantara fame Sapthami Gowda plays a pivotal role in the film.
Alongside Halagali, Dhananjaya has Anna From Mexico, Uttarakaanda, 666 Operation Dream Theatre and Jingo on the horizon, cementing his place as one of Kannada cinema’s busiest leading men.
