Days after actor Paresh Rawal announced that he would no longer be a part of Hera Pheri 3, there has now been another twist: Akshay Kumar has sued him. According to reports, Kumar's Cape of Good Films had bought the rights to the comedy franchise to make its third instalment, which has now hit a roadblock after Rawal's last-minute exit.

Once the original cast came on board — Rawal as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, Kumar as Raju and Suniel Shetty as Shyam — the makers roped in Priyadarshan, who had also directed the 2000 comedy Hera Pheri.

The actors had also shot for a video and officially announced the film earlier this year. Kumar has now sent a legal notice to Rawal claiming damages worth ₹25 crores due to his unprofessional behaviour, as the actor quit the film after signing the contract.

There has been co comment from Rawal on this, though he shares a close bond with Kumar as well Priyadarshan. The trio recently wrapped their latest film Bhoot Bangla.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Priyadarshan lashed out at Rawal's decision, wondering, "What the f**k is wrong with these people?"

"Why is Paresh, whom I’ve always considered an integral part of my film family, behaving in such a manner? I don’t need this. I don’t need to make any films at all. I’m more than happy with what I’ve made so far. And I am financially well-off. I don’t need to make Hera Pheri or any other film," the director was quoted.

Similarly, Shetty expressed his shock over Rawal's exit from the film at this stage, telling ANI that there is no way Hera Pheri 3 can happen without the veteran actor playing the fan-favourite part.

"It can have a one percent chance of filming without me and Akshay, but 100% can’t happen without Paresh ji. Raju and Shyam... if they’re not hammered by Babu here, it doesn’t work," he was quoted as saying.

There has been no response from Kumar or his team on the issue.
