'Housefull 5' Box-Office: Akshay Kumar Gets His Biggest Weekend Post-Pandemic as Film Mints ₹91 Crore
On Sunday, Akshay Kumar visited the Gaiety Galaxy cinema in Bandra in a mask to get honest reviews of 'Housefull 5'.
Housefull 5, the latest instalment in the long-running comedy franchise, is off to a good start at the box office. The multi-starrer film, led by Akshay Kumar, had a solid weekend in India as well as overseas, following a good start on Friday, a day after the release of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's Thug Life.
Housefull 5 opened with ₹24.35 crore, and registered a jump of 33% to record an impressive ₹32.38 crore nett on Saturday. On Sunday, the comedy remained steady as it clocked ₹35.10 crore, taking its opening weekend to ₹91.83 crore.
It is a significant jump from Housefull 4, which had recorded a weekend of ₹46.50 during the 2019 Diwali. Housefull 5 has also given Kumar his biggest opening weekend post-pandemic, beating Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, which had netted ₹77 crore in 2021 (with 50% occupancy in Maharashtra due to COVID-19).
According to reports, the opening day worldwide gross of Housefull 5 stands at over ₹130 crore, which is bigger than Salman Khan's Sikandar but less than Vicky Kaushal-led Chhaava, which was over ₹160 crore.
On Sunday, Kumar, along with co-stars Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan, visited the Gaiety Galaxy cinema in Bandra in a mask to get honest reviews of the film.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.
