The new film will see Imran Khan co-starring with actor Bhumi Pednekar.
Imran Khan is ready to be back on screen. The actor, who was last seen in the romantic-comedy Katti Batti in 2015, will be teaming up with director Danish Aslam—who had helmed the actor's beloved 2010 film Break Ke Baad—for a new project.
"The movie is just like what the team of Break Ke Baad would be doing 15 years later in life," said Khan, talking about the untitled streaming project, which is likely to drop on Netflix.
Calling the new film a "natural progression" in an interview with Hindustan Times, Khan said, "Danish and I now have collective life experience. He's been married, and I've been through a divorce. It's just the film we should make 15 years later."
Co-starring Deepika Padukone, Break Ke Baad followed the story of childhood lovers who have to navigate their relationship after a breakup.
"This is very much a personal project that came from the creative urge of wanting to tell a story and working with dear friends. The shoot is complete and it's in post-production. We are looking at releasing it once the streaming platform decides on the date."
The new film will see Khan uniting with Bhumi Pednekar, whose casting he said was a "creative decision" as the team was "upfront" about having her. "We all agreed on her and what she would bring to the film. She brought a good vibe to the set and it was the same with Gurfateh (Pirzada) In fact, this is the happiest set I've ever been on."
Khan made his film debut in 2008 with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. The Abbas Tyrewala film, backed by Aamir Khan, was a blockbuster. This was followed by films like Kidnap, Luck, I Hate Luv Storys, and Delhi Belly. Khan then co-starred with Kangana Ranaut for Katti Batti, before stepping away from the limelight.
