Indian Film Industry Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack That Killed 26

Celebrities across India mourn the loss of innocent lives and call for justice after a brutal terror attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Baisaran valley.

A brutal terror attack in the picturesque Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, Kashmir, left at least 26 people dead and over 20 injured, sending shockwaves across the nation. Among the first to react were some of India’s most prominent film personalities, who took to social media to express sorrow, outrage, and a collective demand for accountability.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar described the assault as “sheer evil,” writing on X, “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam... Prayers for their families.”

Vicky Kaushal said he was heartbroken by the “inhumane” nature of the attack. “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members who lost their loved ones in this absolutely inhumane act of terrorism,” he wrote, offering prayers and solidarity.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, in his message, amplified journalist Faye D’Souza’s post, writing, “This is heartbreaking... Prayers to the families and loved ones of the innocent lives lost in this heinous attack.”

Sidharth Malhotra, currently shooting in Kerala, condemned the assault as “cowardly,” expressing confidence in the armed forces to ensure justice is served. Janhvi Kapoor penned a longer note: “I pray for justice but I fear this time nothing will be enough to quell this seething anger caused by such repeated acts of terror and evil.”

Mohanlal called the attack “devastating” and appealed for collective strength, while Kamal Haasan emphasised that “India stands united — in grief, in resolve, and in our commitment to uphold law, order, and national security.”

Telugu cinema legend Chiranjeevi called the massacre “ghastly” and “unforgivable.”

Nani, who recently spent several weeks filming in Pahalgam, shared his shock, simply writing “Speechless.”

The attack reportedly occurred around 3 PM, when armed men descended from the surrounding hills and opened fire on a group of tourists exploring the area. The Resistance Front, an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the terror attack.
