'Irumudi' Grosses ₹150 Crore in Career-Best Run for Ravi Teja; Signs Next Film With Vivek Athreya

Telugu star Ravi Teja's latest devotional action film Irumudi has made a splash at the Indian box office. The film has officially raked in ₹150 crore at the Indian box office, according to Sacnilk.

By Day 10, the film’s India net collection had reached Rs 129.55 crore. Its India gross stood at Rs 150.45 crore, while it earned Rs 20.50 crore overseas, taking its estimated worldwide gross to Rs 170.95 crore. The feat also marks a career-best milestone for the actor.

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Irumudi details the relationship between a father and a daughter. Ravi Teja plays a middle-class family man who is devoted to his wife and daughter, but extends the same protective affection to every girl in his village. When any of them is harmed, his warmth gives way to uncontrollable aggression. His biggest weakness is his alcohol dependence, even as he transforms into a peaceful, disciplined man while wearing the Ayyappa mala every year. When a series of mysterious murders targeting young girls shakes the village, he must confront his own demons to put an end to the violence.

The film also features Priya Bhavani Shankar, Baby Nakshathra, Sai Kumar and Swasika in important roles, alongside Ajay Ghosh, Ramesh Indira, Meesala Lakshman, Rajkumar Kasireddy, Ramana Bhargav, Kishore Kancherapalem, Karthik Adusumalli, and Mahesh. It has music by GV Prakash Kumar and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Meanwhile, the actor also recently announced a collaboration with Telugu filmmaker Vivek Athreya, who last directed Nani in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. The movie will go on floors after Ravi Teja wraps up his next project with director Hasith Goli, and will be directed by Laxman and Srini of Bridge Productions.
