Is Kamal Haasan A Part Of Rajinikanth’s 'Coolie'?
Reports hint that the star might lend his voice to Lokesh Kanagaraj's first film with Rajinikanth
In a surprise move, reports have started to circulate about the chances of Kamal Haasan lending his voice in Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Haasan had recorded a small voice-over which was played at the end of Vijay’s Leo. Similarly, a cameo by Haasan, even in the form of a voice-over, promises to be a surprise for fans of both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.
As reported by the website 123Telugu, the makers of Coolie have approached Kamal for a short voice-over. Although not confirmed officially, the reason for the excitement arises from speculation that Coolie might become a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe or LCU, even though the director had denied this previously. Kamal Haasan was a part of Vikram and his involvement in Leo made it a part of the LCU too.
If the news is true, Haasan’s presence will add to an already glamorous list of star cameos in the film. In early July, Aamir Khan's first look from the film was unveiled and it featured the actor in an all-new avatar. The action thriller, produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, also stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan among others.
Coolie marks Lokesh’s first collaboration with Tamil icon Rajinikanth. Speaking about writing for the actor, Lokesh said, “I loved writing for Rajini sir. I initially wrote a fantasy film for him, and he immediately said okay to it, but assembling it took so much time... it would’ve taken at least a year and a half to go ahead.”
Last month, it was revealed that the upcoming Tamil film will be released as Majadoor in Hindi; however, the Hindi version has now been titled Coolie: The Power House. In an interview with THR India, Nagarjuna confirmed that he was playing the antagonist in the film. "I had such a liberating experience. I asked him a couple of times if he was sure he wanted me to behave a certain way and if people acted this way, and Lokesh would go, 'Yes, sir, people are very evil!'" he said.
