'Kaantha' Trailer: Dulquer Salmaan Is All Rage and Fire in Tale of Ambition and Egos
'Kaantha' also stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse, and will be released in theatres across the world on November 14.
The much-awaited trailer of Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati's Kaantha is out.
The film is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, known for the docu-series The Hunt for Veerappan, and is produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films in collaboration with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Set in the vibrant yet turbulent world of 1950s Madras, Kaantha follows the creative, egotistic and emotional tension between a filmmaker and his protégé, and how their relationship undergoes turmoil when they work on a dream project together.
Kaantha also stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse, and will be released in theatres across the world on November 14.
The film, which is co-produced by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese, will be lensed by Dani Sanchez Lopez. The film’s technical crew includes names like Jhanu Chanthar who composes the music, while Dani Sanchez Lopez captures the film with his distinctive visual style. Ramalingam helms the production design, Lewellyn Anthony Gonsalves edits the film, and Thamizh Prabha contributes to the screenplay.
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Daggubati said he couldn’t see anyone but Dulquer in the film. “Each story decides who its actor is in some manner, and everyone is right for a certain role. And I think if you're trying to be a producer of a film, it's about finding the best for that story. The second I heard it, I didn't see anyone but Dulquer in it. So I was like, if he was not in it, we probably wouldn't have made the film.”
Following Kaantha, Dulquer Salmaan will feature in the Telugu romantic drama Aakasamlo Oka Tara and the Malayalam film I’m Game, both currently in different stages of production. Meanwhile, Rana Dauggbati revealed recently that he is overseeing three Telugu titles which are in various stages of production: Dark Chocolate, a pulpy dark-comedy thriller co-produced with Waltair Productions; Psych Siddharth, a youth-driven drama presented and distributed by Spirit Media; and Premante, a love-comedy-thriller produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP with Daggubati’s backing.
