Mourning the tragic Air India plane crash on Thursday, which took the lives of 241 out of 242 people aboard the flight to London, the makers of the upcoming Telugu film Kannappa deferred the release of its trailer and further pushed a pre-release event. "My heart breaks for the lives lost in today’s Ahmedabad Air India crash. In deep mourning, we’re deferring the #Kanappa trailer release by one day and canceling tomorrow’s Indore pre‑release event. My prayers are with the families during this unimaginably difficult time," Vishnu Manchu, the lead actor and producer of the film, wrote on X.
The Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday afternoon, plummeting into the B.J. Medical College hostel mess 5km from the airport, also possibly killing and injuring students on the ground. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among those killed in the crash. Celebrities including Vijay, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan condoled the tragedy on their social media accounts.

Deepest condolences to the families affected. May the injured recover soon and may such tragedies never repeat." Tamil actor-politician Vijay wrote on X.
"Heartbroken by the tragic Ahmedabad Air India flight crash. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. May their souls rest in peace. Truly heart-wrenching," Telugu actor Allu Arjun wrote.
"Devastated and heartbroken and infuriated by today's horrific Air India crash, and the tragic loss of so many lives on board and on the ground. My heart goes out to the families and close ones of the deceased. Their grief is unimaginable. May god give them the strength to navigate through this profound loss," Hrithik Roshan wrote on X.
Actors including Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan expressed condolences on X. In light of the tragedy, Netflix cancelled Thursday's fan and media event for the recently released season of Rana Naidu.
