Industry talk has brought up the ‘curse’ that has been following the film’s production
Recently, the producer of Kantara Chapter 1, addressed the challenges faced by his production ever since the Rishab Shetty film has gone on floors.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the producer acknowledged that he was warned of many such obstacles even before the start of the shooting process. Even though the film’s shoot began over two years ago, the crew has been facing one obstacle after another, including mishaps and accidents involving members of the film's crew.
But the producer clarified that only fire accident was directly connected the production of the big budget film, dismissing other mishaps as those that had nothing to do with the film’s shoot. He also felt that the film was being dragged into controversies given the massive scale of its production. He also attributed some of the mishaps to the terrain in which the film was being shot in coastal Karnataka.
Last week, Kannada film actress Rukmini Vasanth was announced to be a part of Rishab Shetty's upcoming film, which is said to be a a prequel to his popular 2022 film Kantara. Hombale Films, the makers of the title, made this announcement on X on Friday. "Introducing @rukminitweets as ‘KANAKAVATHI’ from the world of #KantaraChapter1," its post read, along with a poster of the actress decked in finery.
Apart from Rishab Shetty and Rukmini, the film's principal cast hasn't been revealed yet. The pan-Indian production recently wrapped up filming. The makers recently released a video anchored by Shetty's voice, taking us through the efforts that went behind the making of this prequel. "I had a dream. To share the story of my soul with the world. Our village, our people, our beliefs. When I chose to pursue that dream, 1000s of people stood with me," his narration begins, adding that the making took three years of hard work and 250 days of shoot. "No matter the challenges, the daiva never let go of me." He goes on to thank the producers and the entire team behind the film.
