The makers of the upcoming Kannada film KD: The Devil have run into trouble with one of its songs facing ire on the internet. Its latest single, 'Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse' in Kannada (and 'Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke'), which was recently launched on YouTube, has raised eyebrows for certain portions of its lyrics. Following backlash on social media, the makers have now made the Hindi version of the song private. The video features actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has now filed a notice against the song. According to IANS, advocate and social activist Vineet Jindal has reportedly approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), seeking an immediate ban and removal of the song. The complaint alleges that both the lyrics and visuals are obscene and potentially harmful, particularly for minors, Hindustan Times reported.

Priyank Kanungo, a member of the NHRC, reportedly condemned the song and its content, according to India Today.

Produced by KVN Productions, the upcoming Kannada film features Dhruva Sarja in the titular role. Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah and Jisshu Sengupta form the rest of the cast. The film has been directed by Prem and has music by Arjun Janya.

The Hollywood Reporter India recently reported that Kannada filmmaker K Kiranraj’s next film will be with Dhruva Sarja. Kiranraj last directed Rakshit Shetty in the hit, heart-rending adventure drama 777 Charlie (2022), which followed the relationship between a lonely factory worker and a Labrador.

A source close to the upcoming project told us that the film will go on floors once Dhruva Sarja finishes filming his upcoming Kannada film, Criminal. “A rough script is in place, and the full script will be finalised soon. The film will go on floors in the next three to four months,” the source tells THR India
