‘KD: The Devil’ Trailer: Dhruva Sarja Leads A Gangster Action-Drama Set In The 1970s

Dhruva Sarja is set to play the titular character, KD or Kaalidasa, alongside multiple prominent stars.

The trailer for Kannada gangster drama KD is here. The film has been directed by Kiran Kumar, known as Prem on-screen, and stars Dhruva Sarja — who was last seen in the A.P. Arjun directorial, Martin — as the protagonist, KD, along with prominent actors across industries, including Sudeepa, Ramesh Aravind, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Jisshu Sengupta.

The trailer gives a glimpse into the grand sets, establishing the period to be around the 1970s. It introduces the world of a powerful gangster, Kaalidasa, and includes intense action sequences, accompanied by explosions and gruesome fights. The director, Prem, is known for his larger-than-life narratives, and the trailer brings out his signature style.

Pogaru actor Dhruva Sarja had announced the project with director Prem under KVN Productions in early 2022, and it was tentatively titled #KVN4. The film’s title was officially announced in late 2024, with Reeshma Nanaiah, who made her Kannada film debut in Ek Love Ya with the same director, joining as the female lead. 

Following the release of the film, Dhruva Sarja will be seen in the Rajaguru directorial Criminal, opposite the acclaimed actress Rachita Ram, who was last seen in the Kannada action-drama Cult. The film, produced by Goldmines Telefilms, is said to be based on a true love story from Haveri, North Karnataka.

Venkat K. Narayana is the producer of KD, and the script has been written by the director himself. On the technical front, the cinematography has been credited to William David, while editing is being handled by Sanketh Achar. Arjun Janya, the acclaimed composer-singer, has worked on the music for the film, which is set to release worldwide later this month, on April 30.
