'Kesari 2' will now hope to pass the crucial Monday test with a respectable hold in collections.
Actor Akshay Kumar's latest feature Kesari Chapter 2 has recorded a decent weekend at the box-office. The film, backed by Dharma Productions, was released on Friday, which was a holiday on account of Good Friday.
Kesari 2 netted a modest ₹7.84 crore on its opening day, armed with mostly positive reviews. The word of mouth helped the film gain on Saturday, when the courtroom drama clocked ₹10.08 crore, followed by a marginally better Sunday, when it collected ₹11.70 crore.
The film has so far netted ₹ 29.62 crore in three days, which is a decent weekend number. Kesari 2 will now hope to pass the crucial Monday test with a respectable hold in collections. If the film doesn't drop drastically, Kesari 2 will have a steady week ahead.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari 2 is working best in urban centers, which is not the target audience for the other film currently playing in cinemas: Sunny Deol's action-drama Jaat.
Kesari 2 will face two new films this Friday, as Emraan Hashmi's Kashmir-set action-thriller Ground Zero and Ananth Mahadevan's Phule open on April 25.
Produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, Kesari 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film of the same name. The sequel is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, which was centred around Indian lawyer C Sankaran Nair and the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
