'Bigg Boss Kannada 12' House Sealed Over Environmental Violations
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) issued immediate closure orders for the Bigg Boss Kannada studio for allegedly operating without environmental clearances.
Authorities in Karnataka have sealed the house of popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada over environmental violations. The closure of the sets took place on Tuesday, and contestants on the Kichcha Sudeep-hosted show were relocated to a nearby resort.
As per reports, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) issued immediate closure orders for the Bigg Boss Kannada studio located at Jollywood Studios and Adventures in Bidadi, Karnataka for allegedly operating without necessary environmental clearances.
The contestants were escorted out of the premises and shifted to the nearby Eagleton Resort. With the suspension of production, over 700 technicians and crew members, who had been working in three shifts for the past six months, have been sent home.
Built at a cost of over ₹5 crore, the Bigg Boss house was constructed on an unprecedented scale, in line with Sudeep’s vision for Season 12, which went on air recently.
State Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre said the action followed repeated violations despite prior notices. "In spite of issuing notices on violations, they have continued them. No one is above the law, and action will be initiated as per the provisions of the law," Khandre was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
He added, "Vels Studios and Entertainment was issued notice by Ramanagar Regional officers in March 2024. I have got information that they do not have permissions under the Water and Air Acts, which are required. I have spoken to officers. They have not bothered to obtain permission and have not even cared to apply in this regard."
The 12th season of Bigg Boss Kannada began airing on September 28. The latest season of the highly rated show features 19 housemates, namely: Raashika Shetty, Cockroach Sudhi, Spandana Somanna, Malu Nipanal, Mallamma (Matina Malli), Manju Bhashini, Karibasappa, Kavya Shaiva, Gilli Nata, Jhanvi R, Dhruvant (Charith Balappa), Chandraprabha, Dhanush Gowda, Dog Satish, Ashwini, Ashwini Gowda, Abhishek Shrikanth, Rakshitha Shetty, RJ Amit Pawar.
