A planned overseas schedule of King, starring Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan, has been cancelled following the crisis in West Asia. The production had lined up a large-scale desert action sequence featuring Suhana and Anil Kapoor, who has an important role in the film. The filming is scheduled to begin on April 9 in the UAE. However, according to reports, the makers have scrapped the schedule entirely keeping the crew’s safety as their priority.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the Dubai leg had been finalised months in advance, with all necessary permissions secured. “The team had procured the required approvals to shoot in Dubai. It was designed as a week-long schedule. However, given the dynamic situation in the region, the makers chose not to take any risks with the safety of the cast and crew,” a source told the publication.

The sequence has now been relocated to Mumbai, where it will be filmed at a Vile Parle studio. The production design team has recreated a desert environment indoors to match the original scale. The source added, “They’ve gone all out to replicate the setting. This also gives the team greater control over action choreography and lighting conditions. The sequence opens with a chase and builds into an intense combat segment.”

King is directed by Siddharth Anand, known for blockbusters like Pathaan and War. The film marks the first on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan. The film also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Arshad Warsi in key roles.

In late 2025, the makers had released a short title promo for King, featuring SRK in a new, lethal look. The film is described as an action spectacle centered on a mentor-mentee bond. Its plot is said to have shades of the 1994 classic Léon: The Professional.
