Directed by Siddharth Anand, 'King' also stars Deepika Padukone and SRK's daughter Suhana Khan.
In a major treat for Shah Rukh Khan fans, the title reveal of his upcoming film King has been released on the superstar’s 60th birthday. The minute-long video asset introduces Khan as an inmate at a maximum security prison. He has silver hair, a deep voice and a ferocious manner, fighting and shooting his way through swarms of enemies. “Darr nahi, dehshat hoon (I’m terror, not fear),” he says in the video.
Directed by Siddharth Anand—who helmed Khan’s 2023 blockbuster Pathaan—King stars Shah Rukh Khan as a vengeful assassin and an internationally wanted criminal. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble including Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan (Khan’s daughter), Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff. Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhay Varma are also in the cast, while Rani Mukerji, one of Khan’s oldest co-stars, is believed to make a special appearance.
From what is know, King is an action spectacle centered on a mentor-mentee bond. The film’s plot is said to have shades of the 1994 classic Léon: The Professional.
Initially, King was to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh before Siddharth Anand stepped in and led a round of script revisions. Production was delayed for several months following Khan’s shoulder injury earlier this year. The actor was injured while filming an action sequence in Mumbai and underwent minor surgery followed by weeks of physiotherapy to recover.
King marks Suhana Khan’s big-screen debut following her role in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies (2023). A big-screen spectacle, this is SRK’s first release since his comeback year 2023—which bequeathed Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki.
SRK recently made a cameo appearance in Ba***ds of Bollywood, a web series directed by his son Aryan Khan. Khan produced the show under his home banner, Red Chillies Entertainment. The actor also received his first-ever National Film Award this year for his performance in Atlee’s Jawan.
