In a surprise move, the makers of Lokah: Chapter One - Chandra released a new teaser showing a fun interaction between Michael (Tovino Thomas) and Charlie (Dulquer Salmaan), both of whom had cameo appearances in the film. They respectively played characters based on Malayalam folklore, such as Chathan and Odiyan. In the teaser, which is now being compared to movies like Deadpool & Wolverine, we see a cheeky conversation between the two characters as they discuss their future. We also see Michael asking Charlie if the latter was responsible for the murder of Hitler. They also go on to talk about the next chapter, hinting at a character that could be Michael’s older brother. The fear they exhibit at his mention also suggests that this could be the main villain in the next film.

Lokah: Chapter 2 will be led by Tovino Thomas and directed by Dominic Arun.

Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra became the highest-grossing Malayalam movie ever last week. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the film is on its way to likely become the first-ever Malayalam movie to gross ₹300 crore. What’s also surprising is that this record would also make the Malayalam industry the only major mainstream movie industry in India to have a female-led movie as its highest grosser. This also makes it the highest-grossing South Indian movie led by a female star.

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan opened up about the overwhelming success of the film that has not only resonated with Malayalam audiences but has also broken barriers to become a pan-India cultural phenomenon.  Reflecting on the project, Dulquer admitted the team had modest expectations. “This is our seventh production, and we've always managed to land safely. But nothing has been like Lokah,” he said. “Even as an actor, none of my films have exploded like this. It’s been accepted across demographics and has now become a part of pop culture. That’s what's most exciting.”
