Character posters of both Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan’s characters from 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' were launched on Friday
On Friday, the team behind Lokah Chapter: Chandra posted two new character posters. These new posters features Michael and Charlie, the two characters played by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan respectively. These posters also describe Michael as ‘Chathan’ and Charlie as ‘Odiyan’ in the cinematic universe. After the release of these posters, social media has been on overdrive to claim that one of these two films featuring either of these two stars will be the next film in the instalment.
Until release, the presence of these two stars in the film were kept a secret. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra released late last month and it is on its way to becoming one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of all time. The team had come out with a poster after it collected ₹ 200 crore. The film’s director, Dominic Arun, had recently said that Chandra was among the weaker superheroes in his cinematic universe, adding to the intrigue.
On Megastar Mammootty’s birthday on September 8, the team behind the latest Malayalam blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra released a special poster from the film showing just the drawing of a man emerging out of the shadows. The caption read, “Happy Birthday Moothon, You Have Our Eternal Love: Team Lokah”. This reiterated that the actor will play the film series’s most intriguing character in future films in the Lokah universe.
Kalyani Priyadarshan too had posted a behind-the-scenes photo along with Mammooty from the sets of the fantasy film. Mammootty posted a picture on his birthday along with the caption “Love And Thanks To All And The Almighty”. This was among his first posts after the result of a crucial health test, ensuring his return to film shoots soon.
Released on August 28 to coincide with the Onam festival, Lokah has been positioned as the opening chapter of a five-part cinematic universe. Written and directed by Dominic Arun, with dramaturgy and additional screenplay contributions from actor Santhy Balachandran, the film reimagines a strand of Kerala’s folklore through the lens of modern fantasy and superhero storytelling.
