Green Day's performance was the tentpole act of Lollapalooza 2025, as they played some of their biggest hits, from 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams', '21 Guns' to 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'.
On the closing night of Lollapalooza India, legendary punk rock band Green Day pulled off the biggest surprise: inviting fans to sing and perform with them on stage. During their 90-minute pulsating set, Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band, picked a fan in the crowd just when they were about to play Dilemma. The fan, obviously dressed in a Green Day T-shirt, came on stage as Armstrong gave him his red guitar. Within minutes, he was living his dream of playing with the American band as hundreds of fans cheered from the Mahalaxmi Racecourse ground.
"You know what?" Armstrong said as the song came to a close. "You can have this guitar, you can take it." Stumped by the gesture, the fan fell on his knees, kissed the musician, and walked away—with his guitar and a huge smile.

Green Day's performance was the tentpole act of Lollapalooza 2025, as the America n band had people across generations queue up to watch them live and groove to some of their biggest hits, from Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday, American Idiot, 21 Guns to Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Also in attendance, soaking in Green Day's electrifying performance, was former One Direction band member Louis Tomlinson. The pop star made his Lollapalooza debut with his signature Britpop and indie rock sound, playing chartbusters like Drag Me Down, Night Changes and Saturday, as fans stood holding placards, requesting their favourite tracks and even asking for hugs.

The fan interaction at the festival also continued with Aurora, the Norwegian singer and songwriter who glided across the stage, dancing and singing through her performance. At one point, when she spotted a fan with a bouquet for her, she requested if she could be handed the gift. "Thank you so much for these flowers," she said as the fans cheered. "This is my first time in India, and this feels really special."

Among the homegrown artists, rapper Hanumankind was the most-talked about performance of the evening as he took to the stage amid euphoria (and later went shirtless while performing). Coming off the global success of his chartbuster Big Dawgs, Hanumankind drew a huge crowd, with many dancing to his beats as he sang tracks like Run It Up and Damnson, before inviting musician Yashraj to jam to their track Enemies.
In terms of other Indian artists, the performers included Raftaar and KR$NA together in a set, classical maestro Niladri Kumar, Lisa Mishra, Raman Negi, Green Park, Raghav Meattle, Adi & Dishaan, and Sudan among others.
Though there were over 20 hours of music over the weekend, with international musicians on board, Lollapalooza India 2025 felt relatively low-key in terms of the artists lineup. If the first day had fans divided and angered over Zedd and Shawn Mendes performing at the same time, others felt it needed a stronger assembly of musicians beyond the obvious tentpole acts.
BookMyShow Live has spearheaded Lollapalooza India as the promoter and co-producer for the festival’s Indian edition along with global producers Perry Farrell and C3 Presents.
