Is an 8-hour work shift possible on a film set? Actor Madhuri Dixit says it is a subjective call, but if one is a workaholic like her, then 12-hour work days could be the norm. The actor said she worked long hours on her latest JioHotstar series Mrs Deshpande.

At the trailer launch of the show, the actor was asked to comment on actor Deepika Padukone's remarks on demanding for herself a structured 8-hour work shift.

Dixit, who has been working since the mid-80s, said actors earlier had no work-life balance. “But the thing is that when we did Mrs Deshpande, we were working 12-hour shifts every day, like maybe more sometimes. So, I think to each his own. I’m a workaholic," the actor told ANI.

The actor, however, added that if Padukone wants something, she has the power to make it happen. “So for me, maybe it’s different, but if a woman has that power and can say, ‘Okay, I want to work these many hours,’ then that’s her prerogative, and that’s her life, and that’s how she wants to do it. Then more power to her."

Dixit is will be next seen in Mrs. Deshpande. Adapted from the French thriller La Mante and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series also stars Siddharth Chandekar, Priyanshu Chatterjee. The six-episode psychological thriller is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Kukunoor Movies.

"Mrs. Deshpande is a journey into the quiet power of a woman who seems ordinary but harbours a dangerous mind," Dixit said about her new show, set to premiere on December 19. "Every glance, every pause holds meaning, and exploring this restrained, intense side of her was both challenging and exhilarating. I’m thrilled for audiences to witness a character that’s layered, unpredictable, and very different from anything I’ve done before”

Kukunoor said the show is a character-driven serial killer thriller and added, "In Mrs. Deshpande I've tried to create one of those memorable grey heroes who the audiences root for. And Madhuri Dixit does total justice to the title role and then some."
