Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was involved in a serious road accident in the early hours of Friday morning (June 6) near Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district. Tragically, his father, CP Chacko, 70, passed away due to injuries, while the actor and his mother were taken to the hospital for treatment. The actor was travelling along with his mother, brother and father.
Shine Tom Chacko, mostly known for his roles in Malayalam and Tamil films, was last seen in Good Bad Ugly and Alappuzha Gymkhana. The actor was also injured badly and suffered fractures during the accident, according to reports.
Speaking to NDTV, Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police SS Maheswaran confirmed the death of Shine Tom Chacko's father, and added that the actor was being treated.
Initial inquiries revealed that the crash occurred due to a collision between the family's car and a truck on the highway, following which the local police have registered a case.
Shine Tom Chacko and his mother have both been admitted to a hospital near the site of the accident. Mored details are awaited on the same.
Earlier this year, the actor was accused of consuming drugs and misbehaving with a female co-star on a film set. The incident gained attention when actor Vincy Aloshious shared her harrowing experience without naming the accused. However, she later took a significant step by filing formal complaints with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the film and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), directly naming Chacko.
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place when Aloshious and Chacko were shooting for the film Soothravakyam, which went on floors last year.
In 2015, Chacko was arrested for allegedly possessing narcotics, following which a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act was registered against him. Eralier this year in February, he was acquitted by the court from all the charges.
