After a short delay, the introduction video for Mammootty’s character Siya in Om was released at 12:12 PM on September 7, coinciding with the megastar’s 75th birthday. The new two-minute teaser works best as an introduction to Mammootty’s character in the film called Burma Karthikeyan. The video begins with a team of international officials stating they have issued a notice in search of a member of an organised crime network. In the teaser, we also see Mammootty in several avatars, including that of a politician.

The teaser ends with Dhanush seen just one step behind the Megastar as they both make a stylish entry into what looks like a celebration. We see him describing himself as a smuggler and not such a good person morally as a result of this distinction. Although the character goes by ‘Siya’ in the film, his official name could be Karthikeyan, according to the data the police officials use.

The film is written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who previously directed Amaran (2024). This project is his first collaboration with Dhanush. The film’s cast includes Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela. Music for the film is by Sai Abhyankkar, who recently worked on RJ Balaji's Karuppu, and cinematography by Ezhil Arasu, editing by Kalaivanan R and costumes by Kavya Sriram. The film is produced by Wunderbar Films in association with RTake Studios.

Wunderbar Films released the promo and release date for Dhanush's 55th film on June 18, revealing its title as Om - Chapter 1: Udhiram: The Blood Wood. The Tamil-language film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026. The title of the film suggests a possible multi-chapter franchise. The roughly two-and-a-half-minute teaser opens with visuals of mountains, forests, and a temple town, followed by a shift to a confrontation in a rain-soaked jungle. The teaser shows police personnel holding woodcutters and workers at gunpoint when Dhanush comes to their rescue, leading to an action-packed fight sequence backed by the film's strong score.
