Mari Selvaraj's upcoming film Bison Kaalamadan, starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran, is scheduled to be released on October 17, as part of the Diwali calendar. The filmmaker took to his social media to make the announcement.

Bison Kaalamadan is produced by Madras (2014) and Sarpatta Parambarai (2021) filmmaker Pa. Ranjith under Neelam Productions, in association with Applause Entertainment. The film marks Ranjith's second association with Selvaraj following the director's heart-wrenching debut Pariyerum Perumal (2018), which Ranjith produced.

"This film is raw, real, and made with so much love. It’s a story that’s close to both our hearts," the producer-director wrote on X. The release date poster features Dhruv Vikram in two angles against the backdrop of various newspaper cuttings. Selvaraj shared the poster on X, calling it a film of "perseverance, determination and survival."

The film marks Vikram's first collaboration with Selvaraj, whose films include the acclaimed Karnan (2021), Maamannan (2023), and most recently, Vaazhai (2024). Bison also co-stars Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Hari Krishnan, and Azhagam Perumal. The film has music by Nivas K Prasanna, and camerawork by Ezhil Arasu K. The film reunites Selvaraj with Lal and Rajisha Vijayan, after their association in Karnan

While the plot of Bison is under wraps, the film is reported to be a sports drama shot primarily in Chennai and Tirunelveli. Dhruv Vikram, the son of popular Tamil actor Vikram, made his debut with Adithya Varma (2019), a remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy (2017). Parameswaran, on the other hand, is fresh from the success of Ashwath Marimuthu’s Tamil comedy Dragon (2025) and is also gearing up for the release of Praveen Kandregula’s Paradha, a drama that co-stars Darshana Rajendran and Sangeetha.
