20th Century Studios unveils the first look at The Devil Wears Prada 2, bringing back Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci for a sequel set in a transformed digital-era fashion world.
Nearly 20 years after The Devil Wears Prada became a pop-culture staple, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are back in stilettos for its long-awaited sequel. The first teaser, unveiled by 20th Century Studios, confirms that the original core quartet — Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci — will all return when the film arrives in cinemas on 1 May 2026.
The brief clip, released on social media, offers a sly nod to the film’s legacy: Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs, whose fraught mentor-protégé dynamic defined the 2006 hit, share a terse encounter in an elevator. It’s no more than a glance, but enough to send fans into a collective spiral.
Directed once again by David Frankel, with Aline Brosh McKenna returning as writer, The Devil Wears Prada 2 revisits the world of Runway magazine at a moment when fashion’s power centres have shifted online. The sequel promises to explore a new era of digital influence, where glossy print prestige collides with algorithmic clout.
Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci reprise their roles as Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, Emily Charlton and Nigel Kipling, now navigating a landscape of shifting alliances and sharpened ambitions in contemporary New York. The cast expands to include Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Returning actors Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also make an appearance.
Produced by Wendy Finerman, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna serving as executive producers, the sequel promises the familiar blend of sardonic humour, immaculate costuming and emotional undercurrents that helped the original achieve cult status.
Whether The Devil Wears Prada 2 can replicate the influence of its predecessor remains to be seen. For now, fans appear content with a single loaded glance between a terrified assistant and her ice-cold editor. That's all.
