'Nishaanchi' Teaser: Anurag Kashyap Launches Balasaheb Thackeray’s Grandson, Aaishvary Thackeray in Rustic Action-Drama
The much-awaited teaser of 'Nishaanchi' is now out, introducing Aaishvary Thackeray in his acting debut
The teaser, unveiled on August 8, 2025, packs a heady mix of action, drama, humour, and music, quickly prompting fans to draw parallels with Kashyap’s cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).
Sharing the clip on social media, Kashyap teased, “Tayyari kar di hai! Emosan ka tadka, actsan ka dhamaka, aur gulel, katta, gaadi, ghoda toh hai hi bhaiya… #Nishaanchi Teaser Out Now… Releasing in theatres near you on September 19.”
Nishaanchi takes viewers into the heart of the hinterlands, telling the story of twin brothers, both played by Thackeray, whose lives take sharply different turns. The teaser opens with the dialogue, “Bina Bollywood, kauno zindagi kaise jiye?” (“How can one live without Bollywood?”), before plunging into a flurry of vibrant visuals, festive dance sequences, high-energy music, tense confrontations, and bursts of gunfire.
Thackeray stars as Babloo, a young man in love with the spirited Rinku (Vedika Pinto), and also as Babloo’s twin, Dabloo. Monika Panwar plays their mother, while Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub appears as Kamaal Ajeeb and Kumud Mishra as Ambika Chacha — characters whose arrival adds further intrigue and conflict to the plot.
From witty one-liners to peppy songs and intense fight scenes, the teaser hints at a film that blends Kashyap’s sensibilities with crowd-pleasing entertainment. The rustic backdrop, colourful character roster, and chaotic energy had viewers flooding the comments section with excitement. “Finally, the GOAT Anurag Kashyap is back,” wrote one fan. Others chimed in with reactions like “Old vibe is back,” and “Gangs of Wasseypur vibes.” Another comment summed up the mood: “Great to see you back in your genre.”
Directed by Kashyap and co-written with Prasoon Mishra and Ranjan Chandel, Nishaanchi is produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films. The Amazon MGM Studios-backed project is set for a theatrical release on September 19, 2025.
