Nivin Pauly’s 'Baby Girl' Unveils First Look and Motion Poster on Onam
The thriller, directed by Arun Varma and penned by celebrated duo Bobby and Sanjay, teases an intense drama with Pauly, Lijomol Jose and Abhimanyu Thilakan in key roles
The makers of Nivin Pauly’s much-anticipated thriller Baby Girl marked the festive occasion of Onam by unveiling the film’s first look and motion poster, offering audiences a glimpse of its moody and suspense-laden world.
The motion poster introduces Abhimanyu Thilakan as a police officer, joined by Jai Bhim actor Lijomol Jose and Premalu breakout star Sangeeth Prathap. Towards its conclusion, Nivin Pauly appears, hinting at an intense narrative that intertwines the lives of these central characters. The brief but atmospheric teaser suggests that Baby Girl will explore themes of conflict, morality and human frailty in a taut thriller format.
Directed by Arun Varma, who made his feature debut with Garudan (2023), the film has been scripted by the acclaimed screenwriting duo Bobby and Sanjay. Known for redefining Malayalam cinema’s approach to thrillers with titles such as Traffic (2011), Mumbai Police (2013) and Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012), the pair’s involvement has set high expectations for Baby Girl.
The supporting cast includes Azees Nedumangad and Aswanth Lal in pivotal roles. The technical crew brings together a strong line-up: cinematography is by Faiz Siddik, editing by Shyjith Kumaran and music by Jakes Bejoy. Together, they promise to deliver the cinematic texture and intensity that have become hallmarks of contemporary Malayalam thrillers.
Produced by Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames, Baby Girl continues his longstanding collaboration with Nivin Pauly. The producer has previously backed several of Pauly’s projects, including Traffic, Thuramukham, Ramachandra Boss & Co and Malayalee From India. Their partnership has been instrumental in shaping some of Malayalam cinema’s most ambitious ventures of the past decade.
Shooting for Baby Girl was completed in June this year, and while the release date is yet to be confirmed, the Onam reveal has intensified anticipation. For fans of Malayalam cinema, and Nivin Pauly in particular, the first look offers a tantalising promise of another gripping addition to the industry’s thriving thriller genre.
