On Saturday, actor Prithviraj released a poster of a film titled Operation Cambodia, confirming that he will soon be working with director Tharun Moorthy. Reports suggest that this will be a sequel to Operation Java (2021), Tharun Moorthy’s first film. Tharun Moorthy is also the director of this year’s blockbuster starring Mohanlal Thudarum. It was earlier announced that Moorthy's next film, after Thudarum, would likely be Torpedo, starring Fahadh Faasil and Naslen.

Moorthy posted, “Back on the hunt, resuming where we paused in 2021. Truly excited to welcome @therealprithvi into the new OPJ franchise – Operation Cambodia. It feels like coming home, reuniting with @lukman_avaran@balu__varghese , @binupappu , @prasanthpalex , @irshadaliofficial , @deepak_vijayann and others.Equally thrilled to associate once more with @vcinemasinternational_ , the production company of my first film, along with @worldwidefilmsindia , a company that feels like friends, and with our own banner, @themanifestationstudio .  A @jakes_bejoy musical, @_vishnugovind audiography.”

Apart from Prithviraj, the film will bring back the original cast from the first film, including Lukman Avaran, Balu Varghese, Binu Pappu, Alexander Prashant and Irshad Ali. Prithiviraj is presently said to be shooting for a big-budget film titled Khalifa, reuniting him with Pokkiri Raja director Vysakh after 15 years. Prithviraj had posted a picture of the film’s clapboard with the caption “Aamir Ali will see you soon!”. A poster of ‘Khalifa’ was launched three years ago in October 2022 with the caption “Vengeance Will Be Written In Gold.” A teaser of his film's next release, Vilaayath Budha, was also released earlier last month.

Tharun Moorthy, in an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, had spoken about proving himself with Operation Java. Moorthy, whose breakout film was made under the pressures of proving he was capable of completing a feature, says his journey wasn’t shaped by dreams of working with stars like Mammootty or Mohanlal. “The only dream was to somehow complete one film,” he says. “Even when Mammootty called me after Saudi Vellakka, I told him I hadn’t found a subject that gave me that creative ‘kick’. He said, ‘You come to me when you find this kick.’
