Oscars 2025 | Here is the Full List of Winners

Indie film Anora was the big winner at this year’s Academy Awards winning five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actress, while Adrien Brody took home Best Actor for The Brutalist.

Anora, which premiered at the Cannes film festival last year, has now become the fourth Palme d’Or winner to be named best picture. The film, headlined by Mikey Madison, followed the life of a sex worker who gets married to the son of a Russian oligarch. Director Sean Baker also won for director, editing and original screenplay.

The 97th Academy Awards saw Emilia Pérez leading the race with 13 nominations, the most ever for a non-English-language film, followed closely by The Brutalist and Wicked with 10 nominations each.

All the three films were vying for Best Picture alongside A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Anora, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, and The Substance. Coralie Fargeat who directed The Substance was the only woman nominated in the Best Director category.

History was made with Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón, the first openly transgender performer nominated for Best Actress. Meanwhile, Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) was the first Black actor with back-to-back Best Actor nominations since Denzel Washington. Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) also entered the record books as the youngest two-time Best Actor nominee since James Dean.

Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the Oscars was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
