In Ratheena’s new thriller, Paathirathri (Midnight), we see several fresh angles that separate this film from other investigative dramas. Primarily, what sets it apart is how it appears to be a buddy cop thriller, with a team of two officers being tasked with investigating one crime. Yet what’s different is that this team of two appears to be a married couple, with the female officer being the senior. The trailer also adds a line about how this male officer may even be nursing ill feelings towards all women, based on his life experiences. The music by Jakes Bejoy further adds a mystery to this trailer. A missing person case and details of stolen goods further suggest that this might include multiple smaller cases, rather than one major investigation. A recent release, Ronth, too, had featured the plot of two officers travelling through the night following different cases during nighttime.
