Originally slated for July, the fourth season of 'Panchayat' will now premiere in June.
The wait for Panchayat is shorter than expected. The fourth season of the hit series known for its gentle humour and understated take on small-town life will now premiere on June 24, a week ahead of schedule. The early release follows an in-universe fan campaign, fittingly styled as a mock election.
Created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar, Panchayat has become one of India’s most popular streaming originals. With its core ensemble: Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa, the show has built a loyal fan base over its three seasons.
The streamer, Prime Video India, confirmed the revised launch date on social media: “Shuru ho chuka hai election. Manju Devi ya Kranti Devi, kiski hogi selection. #PanchayatOnPrime, New Season, June 24.”
Season 4 centres around a new Pradhan election in Phulera, with Manju Devi (Gupta) and Kranti Devi (Sunita Rajwar) facing off in a grassroots battle for power. The show also promises to explore the budding romance between the earnest Sachiv Abhishek (Kumar) and Rinki (Sanvikaa), while resolving the mystery surrounding the unexpected shooting that closed out last season.
Directed by Akshat Vijaywargiya and Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar, Panchayat is a TVF production.
