Filming begins in Lucknow on the Varun V Sharma-directed family entertainer, produced by Bhanushali Studios and AAZ Films.
Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Aditi Rao Hydari are set to star together for the first time in Parivarik ManuRanjan, a family comedy that began filming this week in Lucknow. The project is the first to emerge from a three-film collaboration between AAZ Films and Bhanushali Studios, announced earlier this year.
Directed by Varun V Sharma, the film is billed as a situational comedy centred around a “perfectly mismatched duo”. It is written by Brijendra Kala and Sharma, and produced by Vinod Bhanushali and Himanshu Mehra, with Ali Abbas Zafar on board as creative producer.
Tripathi, known for his wry comic timing and emotionally layered performances, said the script charmed him with its mix of humour and heart. “There was something so charmingly simple and yet irresistibly funny about the script that I couldn’t say no,” he said in a statement.
“It’s the kind of story that sneaks up on you with its warmth. This is my first time working with Aditi, and I’ve always admired her craft towards acting. Also excited to creatively partner with Varun Sharma and Ali Abbas Zafar and Producers Vinod Bhanushali and Himanshu Mehra who are backing a story like this.”

Hydari, who has recently appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi, said she was drawn to the story’s tonal balance. “When I read the script, I smiled through it. For me it’s rare to come across a story in this universe,” she said. “The situational comedy, the twists and the unexpected turns and more importantly the warmth and simplicity that is the heart of the story. Getting to work with Pankaj sir is going to be a treat. He is a master of this genre, and for me this is going to be a big learning experience and a joy.”
Sharma, who previously directed the 2021 heist comedy Bunty Aur Babli 2, described the film as deeply personal. “Parivarik ManuRanjan is a story that’s close to my heart—rooted in the chaos and comedy of life,” he said. “With Pankaj sir and Aditi coming together for the first time, we’re excited to bring something refreshingly warm, honest, and hilariously relatable to the screen.”
