Janhvi Kapoor's monologue from 'Param Sundari' has become the talking point from the trailer, which dropped on Tuesday.
The trailer of Param Sundari, a cross-cultural romantic musical starring Janhvi Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra, was released on Tuesday, and while the visual unit features several sweet and playful moments between the leading pair, what has become the talking point is a short monologue delivered by Kapoor's character near the end of the clip. Kapoor's Sundari is seen schooling two witless North Indians about various movie stars, from Superstar Rajinikanth to Allu Arjun, and the respective states they hail from.
The monologue stands out for her funny, cutting delivery, complete with trademark hand gestures of the popular stars. Comically, the scene indicts the cultural ignorance of many North Indians, who tend to club the diverse southern industries — and languages — under one bracket.
"Kerala, Malayalam, Mohanlal; Tamil Nadu-Tamil, Rajinikanth; Andhra, Telugu, Allu Arjun; Karnataka, Kannada, Yash," Kapoor's character says, adding, "For you all South Indian is Madras? Bloody North Indians! Illiterate, arrogant, ignorant, entitled! Traitors!"
The trailer of the Dinesh Vijan-backed film opens with Param Sachdev from Delhi and Sundari, a spirited dancer from Kerala, playfully flirting inside a church. The under-three-minute-long trailer is peppered with filmy one-liners and classic Bollywood references — until the tone shifts, teasing a conflict between the lovers.
Param Sundari is directed by Tushar Jalota, who has also co-written the story with Gaurav Mishra and Aarsh Vora. The screenplay and dialogues are by Jalota and Vora, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and music by Sachin-Jigar. The film is gearing up for an August 29 release.
Beyond Param Sundari, Kapoor’s upcoming slate includes Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari opposite Varun Dhawan, and Homebound, which recently premiered at Cannes — both under the banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Malhotra, last seen in the 2024 thriller Yodha, will next appear in the folk thriller Vvan – Force of the Forrest. Param Sundari marks Maddock Films’ fourth theatrical release of 2025, following Sky Force, Chhaava, and Bhool Chuk Maaf.
