Hrithik reminisced about sharing screen with Rajinikanth in Bhagwaan Dada, the 1986 film which featured him as a child actor alongside the veteran.
Hrithik took to X and posted about the screen icon, writing how he considers him his inspiration, "Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, @rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic!"
War 2 sees Hrithik back on-screen as his popular character of Major Kabir from War (2019). In the sequel, he is joined by JR NTR in his Hindi debut. The YRF-backed film will release globally on August 14, the same day that Rajinikanth-led Coolie hits the big screen.
Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and is set for a blockbuster global opening day, with projections of over ₹150 crore as of now. The Tamil film also stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and features Aamir Khan in a special appearance.
Meanwhile, War 2 is the sixth instalment of YRF's Spy Universe, which includes Salman Khan's Tiger franchise as well as Shah Rukh Khan-led Pathaan. The film is tracking for a global opening day of ₹90 to 100 crore as of now and the hope is to have a positive reception on its side for a massive jump from day two. Both films will enjoy a massive extended weekend on account of Independence Day.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and co-starring Kiara Advani, War 2 is produced by Aditya Chopra and will release in cinemas in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
