In a surprise move, the team of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming political thriller Parasakthi came out with a release date for their film. It is now expected to be released on 14 January 2026, coinciding with the Pongal and Sankranthi festivals. This is also the festival earmarked for the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, touted to be the superstar’s final film before his full-fledged plunge into politics. Earlier, Parasakthi was said to have a later release, either in February or March. Jana Nayagan is set to be released on 9 January 2026.

The poster of Kongara's period film shows the smoke from a bomb merging with that of a steam-engined train. Sivakarthikeyan holds this bomb in his right arm, and he appears to be aiming, right before throwing it. Apart from him, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela form a part of the rest.

In January this year, the film’s title had come under scrutiny when actor Vijay Antony claimed that it belonged to him. Soon after a teaser was out, actor-music composer Vijay Antony released a statement claiming that the title of the film was registered with him.  Vijay Antony Pictures had reportedly registered the title Paraashakthi in Telugu in July last year.  Antony's previous tweet, before the letter, was the poster of the said film, which is titled Shakti Tirumagan in Tamil and Paraashakthi in Telugu.

Following this, Dawn Pictures posted a series of tweets in defence of the title, claiming they are the proprietors of Parasakthi in Tamil and Telugu. To back the claims, the makers posted official letters from the Tamil and Telugu Producers Council, dated January 11 and 13, where the film bodies have acknowledged the registration of the title.

Sudha Kongara's last film was Suriya and Aparna Balamurali's Soorarai Pottru (2020), while Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in Madharaasi (2025).
