The shoot of Prabhas-starrer Fauzi has been temporarily halted after a road accident involving members of the film’s crew resulted in one death and left five others injured.

The accident took place near Abdullapurmet, located on the boundaries of Hyderabad, while crew members were travelling to Ramoji Film City, one of the film’s primary shooting locations. The vehicle is said to have lost control and rammed into a divider along the busy stretch — the corridor is often seen to be packed with commuters and commercial vehicles early in the morning, reports stated.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Following the incident, director Hanu Raghavapudi and the producers at Mythri Movie Makers have decided to temporarily suspend the shoot.

Fauzi is a period action drama starring Prabhas in the role of an Azad Hind Force soldier. The makers unveiled the film’s title poster last year, offering the first glimpse of the actor in character. Anupam Kher, most recently seen in Tanvi The Great— his writing debut and second directorial — was revealed to have joined the cast in March this year.

Backed by Mythri Movie Makers, Fauzi is expected to release in two parts, with the second instalment reportedly planned as a prequel. Production on the film was said to be nearing completion before the accident. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jaya Prada, and is reportedly being lined up for a Dussehra release later this year, however an official date is yet to be confirmed.

Prabhas was last seen in the horror-comedy film, The Raja Saab and is also set to star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, in addition to the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Director Hanu Raghavapudi, on the other hand, worked on the Dulquer Salman, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandana starrer, Sita Ramam released in 2022.
