The much-hyped 'Pradeep vs Pradeep' box-office clash has officially been called off. Fans expecting to see Pradeep Ranganathan headline two Deepavali releases simultaneously will now have to wait a little longer, as the actor confirmed that only Dude will hit screens this October, while Love Insurance Kompany has been pushed.

Dude is releasing on October 17,” Pradeep said in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. “Both films were nearly done and were eyeing the festival window, but it didn’t feel right to put them out together. The Love Insurance Kompany team has decided to take a couple of extra months.”

According to him, the decision was as much about timing as it was about fairness. “If both films had released on the same day, the collections would be split. Even if one did a little better, the other would automatically be seen as falling short. This way, both can stand on their own.”

The delay will also benefit Love Insurance Kompany technically, since its CGI-heavy post-production still needs time. But for Pradeep, the bigger relief comes from avoiding self-competition. “At first, I tried to convince myself that with two films on the same day, the whole country will talk. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t good for me or for the producers. One film might overshadow the other, and that’s not fair.”

The thought of two festival releases with his face on the posters felt surreal, but practicality ultimately won. “It sounds fancy, but it’s not healthy. Spacing them out gives both films their own space, and it gives me time to prepare for my next project.”

For now, Dude will carry Pradeep through Deepavali, while Love Insurance Kompany is expected to follow a couple of months later. Instead of a clash, audiences get a staggered treat, and both films the chance to shine.
