'LIK' is now headed for a December 2025 release.
After what was expected to be a high-profile Deepavali clash with Pradeep Ranganathan taking on Pradeep Ranganathan with two releases, it is now officially confirmed that LIK will bow out of the clash. LIK (Love Insurance Kompany), directed by Vignesh Shivan, was to release opposite Keerthiswaran’s Dude this Deepavali. But a press note from Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio has confirmed that their film will now release only on December 18, 2025. The actor-director had officially confirmed this news with The Hollywood Reporter India in a recent interview.
The note also wished luck to the team behind Dude and reads, “Like two trains on the same track, a head-on collision helps no one. With genuine concern for our beloved hero Pradeep Ranganathan and respect for the efforts behind both films, we've thoughtfully decided to reschedule the release of LIK to December 18, 2025. Despite our best efforts to coordinate with Mythri Movies, we couldn't find common ground, and we believe it's wiser to let both films shine without overlap. We extend our heartfelt wishes to Pradeep Ranganathan and the entire team of DUDE for a joyous Diwali and a grand success at the box office!” (SIC)
As for Dude, actor and filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan adds another feather to his cap — this time as a playback singer with the film. The Love Today director-actor has made his singing debut in Dude, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film, starring Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles alongside R. Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon and Rohini, follows the lives of two youngsters who run an event management company in Chennai. The song, titled 'Singari', is composed by Sai Abhyankkar with lyrics by Sanjay Semvi and female chorus by The Indian Choral Ensemble (Chamber).
In the interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor-director said the decision was as much about timing as it was about fairness. “If both films had been released on the same day, the collections would be split. Even if one did a little better, the other would automatically be seen as falling short. This way, both can stand on their own.”
