On Prime Day, Prime Video unveiled the official first look of its upcoming period drama The Revolutionaries, created and directed by Nikkhil Advani it is an adaptation of Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom, the series is being produced by Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani under Emmay Entertainment and will premiere on Prime Video in 2026 across India and 240+ countries and territories.

The show revisits a lesser-seen side of India’s freedom movement, focusing on the stories of young patriots who believed that armed resistance was essential to bringing down British rule. The book explores the lives and legacies of figures like Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Aurobindo Ghosh, Bhikaiji Cama, and others who remain crucial to the country's independence narrative.

Speaking on the project, Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said, “Sanjeev Sanyal’s remarkable book shines a light on a vital part of our freedom struggle, and we’re immensely proud to bring this story to life. Director Nikkhil Advani called the series a “deeply enriching and enlightening experience,” and added, “We have brought together an exceptional crew and cast, led by Bhuvan, Rohit, Pratibha and Gurfateh, who are ready to fully immerse themselves in the spirit of this story and breathe life into these iconic characters.”

The first-look visuals released today offer a glimpse of the world the show is building. With detailed set design and historically rooted costumes, the visuals suggest a well-researched, visually rich portrayal of early 20th century India. The fresh casting choice has also caught attention online, with audiences especially reacting to Rohit Saraf and Bhuvan Bam in their never-seen-before avatars.

Currently being shot across multiple Indian locations including Mumbai, Amritsar, Varanasi and Dehradun, The Revolutionaries is Advani's second consecutive historical project after Freedom at Midnight on SonyLIV.
