The big budget mass entertainer, directed by Vysakh, will begin shoot in London
15 years since the release of their film Pokkiri Raja (2010), director Vysakh and Prithviraj Sukumaran will reunite for another big budget entertainment titled Khalifa. The film’s pooja function took place yesterday in Kerala and its shoot is expected to begin in August at London.
Prithviraj had posted a picture of the film’s clapboard with the caption “Aamir Ali will see you soon!”. A poster of ‘Khalifa’ was earlier launched three years ago in October 2022 with the caption “Vengeance Will Be Written In Gold.”
Apart from writing the script, its production is also being handled by Jinu Abraham. Music is by Jakes Bejoy and it’s being shot by DOP Jomon T John. Chaman Chacko is the editor and Mashar Hamsa will oversee costumes. This is Prithviraj’s third film with writer Jinu Abraham after Kaduva and Adam Joan.

Director Vysakh’s latest release was Mammootty’s Turbo (2024) and Mohanlal’s Monster (2022). He also has a film titled Bruce Lee which is being written by Udaykrishna.
As for Prithviraj, his last film was his directional L2: Empuraan. He will next be seen in the Hindi war drama Sarzameen with Kajol. “Set against the backdrop of an increasingly volatile Kashmir, the film follows Vijay Menon (Prithviraj), known for his unshakeable sense of duty and personal sacrifice. As Meera (Kajol), a strong mother and wife, fights to hold the family together, Harman (Ibrahim) brings a raw, simmering intensity to the role of a young man caught between shadowed memories and unsettling truths,” reads the plot line of the upcoming movie.
The teaser showcases a face-off between Prithviraj and Ibrahim, who plays a terrorist in the film. Sarzameen is written by Soumil Shukla and Arun Singh, with dialogues by Kausar Munir and Jehan Handa. Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta of Dharma Productions, along with Star Studios, produce the film.
Then, Prithviraj and Kareena Kapoor Khan will also headline Meghna Gulzar’s next feature, Daayra, a crime drama set to tackle some of society’s most unsettling truths. Backed by Junglee Pictures, the film is currently in pre-production.
