Actors Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa on Thursday announced that they're expecting their first child. The couple took to Instagram and shared a joint post with an adorable, creative announcement: "Baby on the way."

Rajkummar and Patralekhaa began dating in 2010 and tied the knot in November 2021 in Chandigarh. The duo took to Instagram and captioned the picture, which featured an animated pram surrounded by flowers, with just one word: "Elated."

The post was soon flooded with congratulatory comments from their friends and colleagues from the industry, including Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, Varun Dhawan, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani, who's also expecting her first child. Kiara and Sidharth Malhotra had announced their pregnancy in March this year.

Before they started dating, Patralekhaa had seen Rajkummar for the first time in Love Sex Aur Dhoka in 2010, while the latter had seen her in an advertisement. The mutual admiration soon turned into love as the couple started dating around 2010.

Four years later, she made her acting debut with Hansal Mehta's drama CityLights, which marked the first—and so far only—film appearance of hers with Rajkummar. The duo was later seen in the miniseries Bose: Dead/Alive (2017). She followed it up with appearances in Vikram Bhatt's Love Games and Anubhav Sinha's Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. This year, she was seen in Anant Mahadevan's Phule, which was based on the lives of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule.

Rajkummar, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his action drama Maalik. The film is set to hit the big screens on July 11. This will be his second release of the year after the comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf. The films come after a fantastic 2024 for Rajkummar, who started in Stree 2, which emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
