Ram Gopal Varma revealed that the story takes place after a 'deadly' encounter killing when a police station is turned into a haunted station.
After collaborating on landmark Hindi films such as Satya (1998), Kaun (1999) and Shool (1999), filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Manoj Bajpayee are teaming up for something new: a horror comedy. Set in the world of cops, the new film is titled Police Station Mein Bhoot.
Varma took to X and announced the new film, writing how after helming movies across genres—horror, crime, romance, political dramas, adventure capers and thrillers—he was thrilled to mount a horror comedy for the first time.
"We run to the police when scared, but where will the police run to when they get scared?" the filmmaker shared the concept of the film.
Varma then also revealed the story idea of the movie, which takes place after a "deadly" encounter when a police station is turned into a haunted station.
"Making all the cops run in fear to escape the ghosts of the gangsters. With cutting-edge VFX, spine-chilling horror effects, Police Station Mein Bhoot will be a fun-filled film that will terrify you," he added.
This development comes months after Varma opened up about losing focus in his career after the blinding success of Satya and Rangeela. He later announced his new film, Syndicate, which he said will explore "a terrifying organisation which threatens the very existence of India" and claimed that the project would be his biggest to date.
Varma's last Hindi directorial was the 2022 martial arts film Ladki: Dragon Girl, while Bajpayee had a packed 2024 with Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout, Bhaiyya Ji and Despatch.
