'Ramayana' Trailer: Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Ram and Yash's Raavan Take Centre Stage in Nitesh Tiwari's Epic

The first full trailer for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana was unveiled on Thursday (July 30), offering audiences their biggest look yet at the filmmaker's ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic. Released during the Brahma Muhurat at 4.15 a.m., the trailer introduces the central conflict between Lord Ram and Raavan while showcasing the expansive mythological world recreated for the big screen.

Led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Raavan, the film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, alongside Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Shobana, Saurabh Sachdeva and Faisal Malik. The ensemble cast also features Indira Krishnan, Adinath Kothare and several other actors in key mythological roles.

The trailer opens with Yash's Raavan making a dramatic entrance before declaring himself the new ruler. As he proclaims his ambition to reign over the heavens, earth and the underworld, the footage introduces Lanka, the Pushpak Vimaan and the kingdom's imposing scale.

Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Ram is introduced soon after through glimpses of his life in Ayodhya and moments shared with Sai Pallavi's Sita. The trailer moves through key events from the epic, including Ram and Sita's wedding, Kaikeyi's decision that sends Ram, Sita and Lakshman into a 14-year exile, and the events that ultimately set up the battle between Ram and Raavan. Arun Govil appears as King Dashrath in an emotional sequence, while Sai Pallavi leaves a strong impression with her restrained portrayal of Sita.

The latter half of the trailer shifts to the growing conflict between the two protagonists, featuring sweeping battle sequences, elaborate production design and extensive visual effects. While Sunny Deol's Hanuman is absent from the footage, the trailer offers brief glimpses of Vivek Oberoi, Saurabh Sachdeva and other members of the ensemble cast before concluding with Ram's vow to defeat Raavan.

Another highlight is the score, which marks the first collaboration between Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana was also previewed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 ahead of its trailer launch after its original July 24 release was postponed following the film's global distribution deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Ramayana: Part I is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5, 2026, during the Diwali weekend, with the second instalment set to follow in 2027.
