Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone Tighten Security at Mumbai Residence After Extortion Threat

Actor-couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have firmed up security around their Mumbai residence following an alleged extortion threat to Singh on Tuesday, February 10.

According to reports, Ranveer Singh received a threat via WhatsApp from unidentified persons. The message, reportedly sent as a voice note, allegedly demanded a substantial sum of money. Authorities confirmed that Singh alerted local law enforcement after receiving the message. Officials from the Mumbai Police are examining digital evidence and attempting to corroborate the sender’s identity. However, no arrests have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, an official communication from Singh and Padukone's housing complex to the Dadar Police Station stated that armed personnel have been deployed outside the property as a precautionary measure. Authorities have also advised residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Ranveer Singh’s recent film Dhurandhar (2025), a spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, amassed enormous popularity and commercial success, grossing over ₹1000 crore worldwide. A sequel titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, with Singh reprising his role as an Indian spy billeted in the Pakistani mafia. Singh is also attached to an upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie thriller tentatively titled Pralay, to be directed by Jai Mehta and set in a dystopian world overrun by zombies.

Singh is also in the news for his legal battle with Excel Entertainment over his departure from Don 3. The Producers Guild of India has held two closed-door meetings in the wake of Excel Entertainment approaching the body, claiming that Singh's last-minute exit from Don 3 resulted in losses of approximately ₹40 crore. The film was being directed by Farhan Akhtar, who was also producing it with Ritesh Sidhwani.

According to reports, Singh, in his defence, blamed Excel Entertainment for "unprofessionalism" and not being serious about taking Don 3 on floors as Akhtar focused on other commitments, including acting.
