Ram Charan's 17th film, tentatively titled 'RC 17', recently went on the floors, and his father and Telugu film superstar Chiranjeevi sounded the clapboard. Popular filmmaker Sukumar will direct the upcoming Telugu production.

Megastar Chiranjeevi attended the launch as chief guest, sounded the clapboard for the muhurtham shot, and handed over the script alongside Dil Raju. T-Series' Bhushan Kumar switched on the camera, while the directors present at the event directed the first shot.

The film marks the reunion of Ram Charan and director Sukumar, whose previous collaboration, Rangasthalam, received widespread acclaim. Ram Charan is said to be undergoing a physical transformation for the project, with Sukumar set to present him in a different avatar.

Produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Shankar, Vijaya Prasad Bandreddi and Bhushan Kumar, the film is being made on a large scale as a pan-India project.

The upcoming pan-India project is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings in association with T-Series. Cast and crew details will be announced soon, according to a press note.

Cinematographer Rathnavelu is reporedly helming the camera for the film. The cinematographer has worked with Ram Charan and Sukumar on Rangasthalam, and more recently on Peddi. "This is probably our 5th collaboration. He wanted me for his father's comeback movie, Khaidi No 150, and that's how our relationship started. And then we did Rangasthalam, which worked really well. The film showed him in a very different light in a lungi and a beard. Tamil heroes have done this before, but for Telugu cinema, which is a lot more glossy, this was relatively new. But we struck a great equation. Sukumar and I connected really well because I don't really go over the board and look at telling a story differently," the DOP told The Hollywood Reporter India in an earlier interview.
