Sai Pallavi, Anirudh Ravichander Among Others To Receive Kalaimamani Awards

Padma Bhushan KJ Yesudas will also be honoured with the MS Subbulakshmi Award for Music.

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday announced that actors Sai Pallavi, SJ Suryah, Vikram Prabhu, Jaya VC Guganathan, K Manikandan, and M George Maryan, along with music composer Anirudh Ravichander, will be receiving the state government's Kalaimamani Awards for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023.

According to a report in The Hindu, the state government released the list under various categories, which will also honour Padma Bhushan KJ Yesudas with the MS Subbulakshmi Award for Music.

The list for the Kalaimamani Awards for the three years includes filmmaker Lingusamy, art director JK alias M Jayakumar, stunt master ‘Super’ Subbarayan, lyricist Viveka, playback singer Shweta Mohan, and choreographer ‘Sandy’ alias A Santhosh Kumar.

Renowned litterateur N. Murugesa Pandian will receive the Bharathiar Award for Literature, while Padma Shri Muthukannammal will be honoured with the Balasaraswathi Award for Dance.

Additionally, Tamil Isai Sangam in Chennai (Raja Annamalai Mandram) will receive an award under the associations category from the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram, and ‘Kalaimamani’ MR Muthusamy Memorial Drama Troupe will be awarded in the drama troupe category.

The report also stated that Chief Minister MK Stalin will preside over the award ceremony in Chennai in October. The awards, which will go to as many as 90 artists for 2021, 2022, and 2023, aim to honour those excelling in literature, music, dance, theatre, cinema, and traditional arts, among others.

On the work front, Sai Pallavi will be next seen in the epic Ramayana: Part 1. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari (of Dangal fame) and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, the film features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and KGF star Yash as Ravana.

Also starring Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ramayana: Part 1 will release worldwide on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 on Diwali 2027. The film has been written by Shridhar Raghavan.
